What should I send prior to the meeting to help you understand my needs and experience better?
If you can send your most recent resume, that would be terrific! You can provide either a Word or PDF version at this point, but if we move forward, I’ll ask you to send it as a Word doc. It’s also very helpful if you provide 2-3 job descriptions that are similar. This not only helps us focus and create an ATS-friendly and SEO-optimized LinkedIn profile. My clients also find them useful for focusing their minds on a specific role.
What if my resume doesn’t include my current role?
No problem! We can discuss how to provide that during our meeting.
What is your typical lead time?
I aim for a six-business-day turnaround for the resume proof, and then four business days for each additional document. So, for example, if a LinkedIn profile and cover letter are part of your package, I’ll ask for four business days to send the LinkedIn proof, and then four business days for the cover letter proof. Of course, we can reverse the order of LinkedIn profile and the cover letter, depending on your priority. I typically start with the resume, though.
Will I have an opportunity to ask for changes before you send the final draft?
Although I aim to get your document perfect the first time, I am very open to discussions and changes regarding specific details about your experience. I will also respect your expertise, and will defer to you regarding changes related to industry-specific terms or what you think is relevant to your hiring managers in your field.
