We get inspired by doing.

This applies to the project of job search, as well.

Whether the task is to research companies, make appointments, or search job postings…it still applies: get your butt in the chair. Believe me–I know how hard it is to get going, so I’m sharing what’s worked for me.

In the last episode, I talked about the 5 elements of a successful job search project. In this episode, I’m focusing on the importance of getting the start date on your calendar and following that with a weekly cadence.

Tips:

Block that start date and protect it against all temptations, like opening an “urgent” email.
Create a schedule for the week (preferably on the Friday or Sunday before the week starts) so the time is blocked and protected from other activities.
Schedule your blocks during the time of day when you have the most energy. (Are you a lark or an owl).
Don’t wait for inspiration! Inspiration comes by doing.
